Modernizing How a People-Powered Organization Connects

The Challenge

Every day, more than 18,000 team members and thousands of outside stakeholders from across the country and even from around the world work together to uphold the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) commitment to food and product safety. With that many people working in collaboration, the agency’s approach to its critical AV systems and meetings had become understandably fractured and costly.

FDA leadership knew it was time for an operational overhaul, one that would create a consistently exceptional and equitable meeting experience for every single person engaged in the agency’s mission.

VersaTech in Action

The FDA tasked VersaTech with creating, maintaining, and managing a comprehensive, seamless, and fully staffed meeting and collaboration system. This includes:

  • Day-to-day management of more than 300 conference rooms, a conference center, and auditorium at the FDA’s main DC-area campus, as well as additional offices nationwide
  • Coordination, facilitation, and technical support for more than 3,000 meetings a month—many of which require juggling a variety of functionalities, from webcasting to virtual breakout rooms
  • Rapid stand-up of fully remote workplace solutions during the COVID crisis
  • Equally rapid campus enhancements, like conference room refreshes, in response to the government’s post-COVID return-to-work mandate
  • Campus-wide digital signage refresh of 80+ displays with end-points (digital signage players)
  • CMS (content management system) rollout and management
  • Strategically planned space-by-space refreshes to ensure all facilities keep pace with the FDA’s latest technology needs

CONFIDENCE Delivered

VersaTech has helped the FDA continually evolve in a world where food and product safety issues transcend borders. The agency has the capabilities to conduct mission-critical collaboration at any time, from and to any part of the world.

Along the way, we have also help the FDA maximize the value of its investments. Today, through our dedicated preventive maintenance and lifecycle management efforts, we have helped the FDA extend the average lifecycle of its AV technologies from 3 to 5 years—a 66% improvement that continues to be realized year after year.
